What's the difference between UR Aid and Ontario Health atHome?
Ontario Health atHome coordinates publicly funded home care based on an assessment, and the hours available are often limited. UR Aid is a private provider you arrange directly, so you choose the schedule and the number of hours. Many families use both.
Do you provide medical or nursing care?
Yes. UR Aid provides personal support plus nursing care. Our caregivers help with bathing, dressing, mobility, meals, companionship and household tasks, and our nurses provide skilled care such as medication administration, wound care, injections and health monitoring, working closely with your loved one's doctors.
Do you provide staff to retirement and residence homes?
Yes. We supply screened Personal Support Workers, nurses and companions to retirement residences, long-term care homes, assisted living and group homes across Ottawa, for single shifts, short-notice coverage or ongoing placements. Call us at +1 613-715-1931 or email info@uraid.ca.
Is there a minimum number of hours?
We keep things flexible. We'll confirm the minimum visit length during your consultation, and there are no long-term contracts.
How quickly can care start?
After the in-home assessment we can usually begin quickly. If a loved one is coming home from hospital, tell us the discharge date and we'll plan around it.
Can we request a caregiver who speaks our language?
Yes. Our team speaks English, Hindi, Urdu, Punjabi and Gujarati, and we match caregivers by language and culture wherever possible so your loved one feels truly at home.
What if we're not happy with the caregiver match?
Tell your coordinator. We'll talk it through and introduce a different caregiver. A good match matters to us as much as it does to you.
